VIDEO: Jewish Immigrants in NY (1860s-1890s)

In the mid 1800s, Jews were forbidden to own land and were limited to specific business opportunities. On top of their limitations, Jews were constantly threatened by Pogroms, which are large massacres of specific ethnicities, in Russia. This constant threat endangered the lives of them and their families.
These several issues of economic hardships, physical attacks, and religious threats, were accompanied by the dream of America; the dream of freedom.
The Jewish arrival from Europe was very influential in New York in the late 1800s for their investments helped to stimulate the economy.
